SAINT STEPHEN PARISH COUNCILThis council is to be "informed and inspired by the vision of the Church."
Its mission includes:
1) the spiritual enrichment and growth of its members
2) the study of the Christian life of the People of God with special attention to their Christian vision, needs and hopes
3) the discernment of the relationship of the pastoral activity of the parish to the legitimate needs and hopes of the parish community
4) to help in establishing priorities among the various aspects of the pastoral activity of the parish
5) the formation of policy and the development of programs of pastoral activity.
FINANCE COUNCIL This council has as its responsibilities:
1) the spiritual enrichment and growth of the members
2) the formation of financial policies, including the devising and regular monitoring of a parish budget
3)the policies for the proper maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the parish
4) long-range financial planning
5) preparation of an annual financial report
6) attention to civil law pertaining to the administration of the temporal goods of the parish.
SACRED WORSHIP This
committee assists the pastor in promoting and directing the prayer and liturgical life of the parish.
Their responsibilities include:
1) the spiritual enrichment and growth of its members
2) the formation and training of the liturgical ministers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, servers, ushers and hospitality ministers
3) fostering a deeper knowledge of and participation in the Church's prayer and liturgical life
4) the art and environment of the church building
5) the planning and scheduling of parish liturgies
6) implementation of devotional prayer
7) helping with sacramental celebrations of the parish
FAMILY LIFE COMMITTEE This committee is concerned with all the people of the parish.
Their responsibilities include:
1) the spiritual enrichment and growth of its members
2) to recognize that the family is fundamental to the life of the Church
3) to foster Christian family life
4) to foster religious vocations
5) to be an advocate in the parish for families
6) to support youth ministry
7) to help with marriage enhancement, pre-marriage preparation and parenting skills
CATHOLIC EDUCATION COMMITTEE This committee is concerned with the catechesis and evangelization of the parish as a whole.
Their responsibilities include:
1) the spiritual enrichment and growth of its members
2) the total educational aspect of the parish, from children to adults, including sacramental preparation
3) evangelization
4) the spiritual formation of all parishioners
5) the building of prayer groups, Bible studies, and other forms of study within the parish
6) the study of ecumenism
7) being an advocate for the Religious Education and formation of all the parishioners
JUSTICE AND PEACE COMMITTEE This committee looks to the social justice issues that are all around us and tries to find ways to keep these issues in the spotlight.
Their responsibilities include:
1) the spiritual enrichment and growth of its members
2) the concern and action for Justice in the world
3) a Respect for all Life
4) being aware of the Social Justice Teachings and Issues of the Church
5) working for just parish structures
6) looking for ways to get parishioners involved in Justice and Peace concerns
